About Leesa

I’m a portrait artist with a rebellious heart and a brush that doesn’t hold back. My work explores identity, power, and the human experience through a feminist lens, blending portraiture, mythology, and surrealism. I use art to challenge societal norms, confront grief, and celebrate the strength and complexity of femininity.

Originally trained in hair and makeup earning Hair and Makeup Artist of the Year in 2003. I worked with famous faces in fashion and TV before picking up a paint brush in 2016. Since then, I’ve earned an MFA, exhibited internationally, and taken part in artist residencies in France and Spain. My practice is deeply rooted in intersectional feminism, using art as a tool for radical love, empowerment, and social change.

I believe art should make people feel, it should stir something deep, challenge perspectives, and start conversations. My work embraces duality: light and darkness, beauty and decay, the sacred and the profane. Whether I’m painting, sculpting, or writing, my goal is to create a revolution of love and empathy.

When I’m not in the studio, I’m running workshops, engaging in artist residencies, or sharing unfiltered thoughts on art, love, grief, and feminism through my Patreon, Coven of Creatives: The Wildly Wicked World of a Witchy Whore! Based in Wyndham on Bunurong land, I draw inspiration from both the wild landscapes around me and the chaotic beauty of existence itself.

Leesa acknowledges the Bunurong and Wadawurrung people who always have and always will belong to the rivers, stars, hills and red soils of this Country where Wyndham City is being built. May my words and actions lead us to respect Country, learn from Elders, and practice creative wisdom for future generations.
